Types and Prices

We breed two size of rats in all colors, coat types, and markings: standard and dwarf. Below are the simple descriptions of the types we generally see in our litters and their corresponding prices.

Standard

These are standard sized rats. These rats are typically 5 to 7.2 inches in length without their tail and up to 500 grams in weight (with males usually being larger than females).

Standard

To say there isn’t anything special about these little ones would be lying. However, these rats have standard coats and can be solid color (self) or mismarked. They can have any eye color or be top ear or dumbo.

Siamese

Just like their kitty namesake, these rats usually have solid body colors with dark noses, ears, and rear ends. We will offer both standard hair and Rex versions. They can have any eye color and be top ear or dumbo.

Marten

These rats are usually the color of a graphite lead pencil. Fur on the face around the whiskers, over the eyes, and behind the ears is expected to be lighter in shade. Belly color is paler shade than the top. Foot color should match the top. Pink eyes. Could be top ear or dumbo.

Spotted Tabby

Also known as Marbled. Color is grey with black markings/pattern which consists of a dorsal stripe and spots on the sides and face. The color of the dorsal stripe/spots is the base color.

D'Argent

Also known as Silvermane. These rats will get whiter as they age. Their coats will have white tips. The white will disappear showing just the undercoat when wet. Starts out with a facial mask and the silvering increases with age until all tips are white.

Velveteen

These rats have longer, plush hair that is wavy/curly like Rex coats.

Harley

These rats have long, plush coats. They differ from velveteen by having straight fur and whiskers.

Dwarf

These rats are usually 1/3 the size of their standard sized cousins. They have all the same coat, marking, eye, and ear combinations … just in a smaller (often more adorable) package. Dwarves tend to be more energetic than their larger counterparts. The descriptions of each type we offer follow the above descriptions of standard sized rats.
